Role Description

• Industry : Telecommunication
• Job Profile : Optical Engineer
• Job Location : Monza e Brianza, Lombardy

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Identify emerging technologies in the field of optics through technology scouting activities.
• Assess enabling technologies for the introduction of next-generation transceivers.
• Define requirements for custom applications, working with PLM and suppliers.
• Drawing up procurement specifications.
• Analyze RFQ feedback and classify suppliers in collaboration with the Procurement team.
• Coordinate remote validation activities, including the design of test lists, planning and review of results.
• Perform validation tasks.
• Manage projects, including the preparation of status update reports.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or Physics (optical brunch).
• Experience with lab tools like power meter and oscilloscope
• knowledge of pluggable transceivers for Datacom and Telecom applications (access and transport application spaces), with focus on 100G, 200G, 400G and 800G (QSFP-DD).
• Basic knowledge of Python
• In-depth understanding of form factors and their MSA specifications.
• Advanced competence in optical and microelectronic technologies and optical propagation.
• Thorough familiarity with established standards (MSA, ITU-T, IEEE, OIF) for optical interfaces.
• Experience in test automation for validation set-up, based on Lab View infrastructure.
• Ability to manage negotiations and technical discussions with suppliers.
• Excellent communication skills (Italian and English).
• Ability to work as a team in a virtual and international environment.
• Flexibility for travel abroad.
• Spirit of challenge and ability to work under pressure.
• Project and programme management skills.
