Company Overview

MECTRON SPA, a company specializing in the design and manufacturing of medical and dental devices, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Equipment Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be part of the team developing new products and revamping existing ones, from concept to prototype, ensuring compliance with specifications, regulatory clearances, and design control procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate, initially trained and mentored by the Equipment Manager, will lead the technical activities of the mechanical design team for specific projects, overseeing progress and quality of work.

Main activities include:

1. Developing design concepts into detailed engineering projects, including integration of commercial components and in-house electronic hardware;
2. Creating CAD models and detailed drawings for parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies;
3. Performing structural and thermal verification via analytical methods, FEM, or experimental testing;
4. Assembling prototypes;
5. Supporting testing during validation and assisting procurement with market surveys and purchase orders;
6. Writing technical specifications and reports;
7. Archiving documents per QMS and standards;
8. Monitoring external partners' design work.

Skills and Experience

Required Skills

• Finite element modeling: structural, thermal, multi-physics;
• Analytical solutions for structural, thermal, hydraulic/pneumatic problems;
• Generating and interpreting technical drawings;
• Preparing technical documentation;
• Problem solving;
• Teamwork and independent work capabilities;
• Fluent in English (written and spoken);
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 5 years of relevant experience in R&D or similar.

Nice to Have Qualifications

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Comsol, Matlab;
• Experience designing molded plastic components;
• Experience in designing pneumatic/hydraulic systems;
• Knowledge of directives and standards such as 2006/42/CE, IEC EN 60601, ISO 13485, ISO 14971;
• Experience in electro-medical device design, prototyping, and industrialization.

Educational Requirements

Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
