We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and verify products and solutions for a wide range of Cardiopulmonary (CP) disposable and mechanical products throughout the entire product lifecycle, from new product development to maintenance.

This role involves using simulation tools and testing to define and execute appropriate test protocols. The engineer will ensure that manufactured parts meet design specifications, document results in First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, and drive corrective actions for deviations, such as adjusting manufacturing processes or changing specifications.

This position is based at our site in Mirandola, with the possibility of a hybrid work model after the initial probation period.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Mechanical Engineer:

  • Is responsible for product design;
  • Transforms ideas into concept design;
  • Understands and correctly translates product requirements into design;
  • Defines technical solutions for new product designs and for sustaining existing product lifecycles;
  • Applies and continuously improves knowledge of technology;
  • Is responsible for self-technical skills development, in collaboration with the functional manager;
  • Collaborates on the technical feasibility of products and subsystems, and investigates product issues to identify root causes;
  • Engages in technical design reviews and discusses diverse inputs for product development;
  • Contributes to project strategy when product decisions are required.
During the Design and Development Phase, He/She Will:
  • Deliver solutions that meet specifications;
  • Act as a proactive sparring partner for Therapy, Design, and Prototyping Engineers, challenging design decisions where appropriate;
  • Design subsystems that meet required specifications, explaining core technical decisions;
  • Apply design changes;
  • Verify FAI, ensuring parts meet specifications with acceptable process capability, highlighting deviations;
  • Use virtual prototyping and simulation tools to verify designed solutions;
  • Support Prototyping Engineers during physical prototype realization;
  • Define test protocols to verify mechanical performance of designed subsystems;
  • Analyze and interpret test results;
  • Perform detailed device autopsies to identify and analyze product and process issues;
  • Propose and select solutions to resolve issues.
After Product Launch, He/She Will:
  • Support Design Engineers in designing product changes;
  • Perform Mold Flow Analysis, Structural Analysis, stress and deformation analysis, finite element analysis;
  • Assess mechanical deviations from specifications.
The Individual:
  • Holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering (Mechanical);
  • Has proven experience in a similar role, preferably in medical device design and disposables manufacturing;
  • Proficient in CAD software, especially CREO Windchill;
  • Expertise in molding simulations (e.g., Moldex, Mold Flow), FEM, and CFD analysis;
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 is a plus;
  • Fluent in Italian and English.
