Job description

We are an early-stage technology company operating at the intersection of Energy and AI infrastructure, focused on developing a new generation of efficient and scalable computing infrastructure.

Our approach combines distributed computing, modular infrastructure and energy efficiency to support the rapidly growing demand for AI and high-performance computing.

The company is developing a new model for deploying compute capacity in a flexible and scalable way, with a strong focus on efficiency, sustainability, reliability and responsible infrastructure development.

This is an opportunity to join a growing team at an early stage and contribute directly to the development of a new infrastructure platform, working at the intersection of power, data centers and advanced computing

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of the Engineering team, reporting directly to the Head of Hardware Engineering.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative technology company developing advanced modular infrastructure for AI and high-performance computing (HPC).

In this role, you will contribute to the mechanical design and integration of a self-contained, outdoor-deployable computing system. You will take ownership of mechanical engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concepts and CAD design to prototyping, validation, and production readiness.

You will work across multiple engineering disciplines, integrating structural, electrical, thermal, and control systems into a single product. This is a hands-on role combining detailed CAD work, practical workshop activities, and close collaboration with a multidisciplinary engineering team.

What You Will Deliver

This is a high-impact role offering significant technical ownership and the opportunity to bring a complex hardware product from concept to physical reality.

During your first year, you will take responsibility for delivering structural and mechanical designs for prototype and production-ready systems. You will drive design decisions, evaluate technologies and components, coordinate subsystem integration, and actively participate in prototype assembly and testing.

Your work will directly contribute to the development and industrialisation of the company's first-generation product.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and assemblies using SolidWorks, including structural frames, sheet metal enclosures, and mechanical isolation structures.
  • Own and manage complex, multi-body SolidWorks assemblies throughout iterative design cycles.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation to support fabrication and assembly.
  • Collaborate with electrical and thermal engineers to integrate subsystems within the enclosure, ensuring appropriate clearances, mounting solutions, and serviceability.
  • Participate in prototype builds, laboratory testing, and design verification activities, incorporating feedback into subsequent design iterations.
  • Work closely with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and compliant with quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings, and revision control in accordance with internal standards.
  • Contribute to design reviews and solve cross-functional engineering challenges across mechanical, electrical, and thermal domains.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-7 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, ideally involving hardware that has reached prototype or production stage.
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks and complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience producing engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Practical understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, fabrication processes, and design for manufacturability.
  • A hands-on approach to engineering, with the ability to move from CAD design to physical prototyping and testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Fluent in English (C1-C2), Italian is a nice to have
Why Join?
  • Build from the ground up: Play a key role in bringing a new hardware product from concept to reality.
  • Take real ownership: Influence mechanical architecture, component selection, and design decisions.
  • Work across disciplines: Collaborate directly with specialists in electrical engineering, thermal management, and advanced computing infrastructure.
  • Combine design with practical engineering: See your designs move beyond CAD into assembled, tested hardware.
  • Join an ambitious environment: Contribute to the development of next-generation infrastructure supporting the growing demand for AI and high-performance computing.
Salary Expectation
  • 40.000€ - 70.000€ + equity (The compensation package will be determined based on the candidate's seniority, experience, and level of expertise.)
