Thales Alenia Space in Piemonte invites a seasoned mechanical design engineer to lead and execute the design of complex spacecraft structures. You will work within a system level core team, interface with Agencies and Customers, and ensure manufacturability and integration constraints are met.

We seek a candidate with 5+ years in space structures, strong leadership, broad knowledge of materials and processes, and excellent English, ready to drive design activities from concept through testing

Competenze

• At least five years of work experience in space/mechanical discipline is mandatory.
• Ability to manage subcontractors from technical and programmatic viewpoints.
• Leadership of a technical team is expected.
• Knowledge of structural requirements for space modules, satellites and re-entry vehicles.
• Experience with material properties and manufacturing processes for structures.

Mansioni

• Define mechanical/structural requirements derived from high-level customer needs.
• Support concept/trade studies with System Engineering to aid architectural choices.
• Define mechanical architecture for complex spacecrafts.
• Design and analyze metallic and composite structures considering manufacturability and integration constraints.
• Develop and run FEM analyses to support sizing and design decisions.
• Prepare procurement specifications for structures systems and subsystems.
• Oversee structures procurement and manage subcontractors.
• Support development and qualification of manufacturing processes for mechanical hardware.
• Assist hardware integration and final testing.
• Contribute to test plans and test specifications for mechanical tests.
