About us

The unit of “Mechanical and Environment, MGSE Definition and Operations”within the Turin AIT center is responsible for mechanical integration and testing of complex system as scientific satellite and orbital infrastructure as well as relevant MGSE items definition and procurement.

In addition the department is also responsible for environmental test campaign organization and relevant test facilities selections.

For this department we are looking for an: “MGSE Engineer ”

About the job

In this job you are organizing and conducting the activities in order to identify all the Mechanical Ground Support Equipment needed on a specific projects, define the relevant functional and design requirements and provide the required technical follow-on during the procurement and acceptance phase.

In your role you can be also involved in the MGSE integration activities after their delivery to AIT or external facilities as well in their dismounting and packing activities when transportation between different AIT sites will be required, support to project teams in order to prepare different test set-up on which MGSE are used could also be requested.

Specific tasks are:

• Defining the MGSE procurement technical requirements and write relevant specifications.
• Preparing the relevant MGSE requirements traceability matrixes and define relevant verification matrixes (use of DOORS can be mandatory)
• Defining preliminary MGSE CAD sketches in order to address the subco versus expected or proposed design solution
• Performing preliminary trade-off in order to evaluate if and where available commercial items/tools could be used for MGSE
• Performing preliminary trade off in order to verify that defined MGSE are fully complaint with the involved flight hardware and facilities on which they are used (e.g. perform CAD lay-out of different test set-up).
• Supporting the purchasing department in order to prepare and collect the MGSE request of quotation
• Reviewing all the MGSE offers and provide technical evaluation for the best suppliers selection
• Reviewing all the MGSE documentation provide by the suppliers after the kick-off in particular for the main events as PDR, CDR, TRR, PTR and DRB
• Participating s to the main events on supplier side and in particular during the MGSE acceptance test activities.
• Providing a continues technical support during all the procurement phase
• Supporting the project team for which the MGSE are procured to prepare the integration procedures (step by step procedures) for the MGSE installation in Clean Room
• Supporting the project AIT team to the MGSE installation/removal/packing during the different AIT phases.
• Supporting the project AIT team in the preparation of the relevant set-up required during the whole project AIT flow
• Performing co-engineering activities with other departments in order to define S/C configuration, accessibility for integration activities and testing.

About You

Education and experience

• Bachelor or Master degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Good knowledge of English language ,
• Baseline knowledge of French language could be an advantage.
• Previous experience on MGSE design and/or “tooling” manufacturing on Aerospace systems (Satellites and Space Modules) is required.

Skills and knowledge

You have a baseknowledge of following computer application:

• Window based applicable SW; Microsoft Office (Word, Excell etc.)
• 3d CAD model managing (SolidWorks, CATIA, Dassault SW)
• DOORS knowledge is an advantage

Knowledge of FEM medialization and analyses tools could be an advantage.

Knowledge of alignment tools (e.g. theodolites, Laser Tracker) use could be an advantage.
