Qualcomm Europe, Inc. Italy Branch Office seeks a Linux Plumber to bridge kernel and user space, building robust OS tooling and optimizing the kernel-user boundary. The role follows a mainline-first philosophy, collaborating with open-source engineers to integrate our custom Linux distribution with upstream developments.

You will design and maintain our custom distribution, improve boot and init, and work closely with Qualcomm's upstream teams to align silicon capabilities with OS plumbing.

Competenze

• Degree in CS/Engineering and multiple years of hardware/embedded work.
• Strong Linux kernel and OS internals knowledge.
• Experience with upstream/open-source contribution is a plus.

Mansioni

• Own architecture and maintenance of custom Linux distribution (rootfs, packaging, image generation).
• Design system-level components with upstream-first approach.
• Maintain and optimize Debian-based packaging and repositories.
• Build reliable OS-level tooling in C, Go, or Rust.
• Optimize boot/init pipelines for speed and security.
• Bridge internal teams with upstream Qualcomm engineers.
