Job summary

Deltatre S.p.A. is hiring two levels for a Senior/Mid Java Backend Software Engineer to own end-to-end features in the Vesper platform. You will design APIs, contribute to architecture, and mentor others while delivering scalable VOD and live event solutions on AWS.

You will work with Java services, event-driven processes, and RESTful APIs, across the Vesper team, applying strong engineering standards in an on-site Italy-based setup.

Qualifications

• Substantial production Java 11+ experience.
• Deep relational DB experience (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Proven RESTful API design and consumption experience.
• Experience with event-driven systems (SQS, Kafka, etc).
• Familiarity with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, DynamoDB).
• Knowledge of design patterns and testing (unit/integration).
• Experience in agile, cross-functional delivery teams.
• Scala or functional programming exposure.
• NoSQL data stores familiarity.
• Infrastructure as code: Terraform or Ansible.
• Docker or containerised workloads.
• Delivery of features with zero downtime in production.
• Background in streaming/media/broadcast tech.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and optimise Java services running event-driven processes and RESTful APIs on AWS infrastructure.
• Own design and implementation of robust, scalable VOD and live event delivery solutions.
• Participate in system/API design discussions with well-reasoned proposals.
• Write and maintain automated tests; contribute to test approaches.
• Code review participation; maintain engineering standards.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and reliability risks; address debt proactively.
• Mentor mid-level engineers through review and pairing.
