Your Purpose

The Senior Manager, Human Resources - Office Technical Departments will join the fastest growing Cruise Liner and contribute to the strategic growth and HR management of the office technical departments employed by MSC Technical Department through multiple legal entities in Genoa and Sorrento. Acting as a senior HR business partner, the successful candidate will serve as the primary advisor for line managers and employees on a wide range of strategic and operational HR topics. The role includes overseeing the employee lifecycle, managing daily HR operations, fostering employee relations, and enhancing organizational effectiveness through innovative HR policies and processes. Operating within a multinational and technical environment, the Senior Manager will ensure HR strategies align with complex technical functions, supporting sustainable growth and operational excellence.

Your Impact

In alignment with the MSC UK HR function and the HR Corporate team based in Geneva, and considering local regulatory frameworks, the Senior Manager acts as a strategic HR Business Partner for Malta Yard Management (Italy) - Le Torri Office, Genoa, and MSC CTD, Sorrento.

  • Partner with technical leadership to manage the full employee lifecycle (onboarding, recruitment, talent development, career management) in line with MSC's HR strategy, embedding a data-driven approach;
  • Collaborate with the UK Talent Acquisition team to attract high-caliber technical and operational talent using innovative sourcing strategies;
  • Optimize organizational design and development to enhance operational structures in technical environments;
  • Align total reward solutions with market trends to support retention of technical expertise and leadership;
  • Support leaders in fostering employee engagement, career development, and continuous learning, focusing on future-ready skills;
  • Advise managers on performance management, absence, employee relations, and disciplinary issues, ensuring compliance with Italian labour law and CCNL "Armatori di terra";
  • Act as a trusted advisor on HR issues, ensuring policies promote efficiency and compliance;
  • Manage local HR processes to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency;
  • Implement talent management frameworks, including performance management, development, and succession planning;
  • Utilize data analytics to produce HR reports and metrics for decision-making;
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within HR operations, utilizing digital tools and lean methodologies;
  • Stay updated on HR legislation, best practices, and trends in technical workforce management.
Your Journey so far
  • A BSc/BA in HR Management, Law, Business Administration, or related field; or significant experience as a Senior HR Manager or HR Business Partner in a medium/large organization;
  • Strong knowledge of Italian employment law and HR best practices;
  • Experience working with Italian Trade Unions;
  • Leadership experience in multinational companies within technical, industrial, or operational sectors such as engineering, shipping, shipbuilding, or maritime services;
  • Familiarity with lean maintenance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement frameworks;
  • Ability to manage HR in complex, matrix, and cross-cultural organizations, ideally in safety-critical industries;
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to partner with technical leadership on workforce planning and organizational design;
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR reporting tools;
  • Resilient and capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.
