Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Heat Pumps to lead testing, certification, and evaluation of residential and commercial heat pump technologies. You will provide technical leadership across performance, energy efficiency, and certification activities.

You will collaborate with manufacturers and internal teams to define scope, timelines and deliverables, and help expand UL Solutions' capabilities in HVAC testing and standards development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in heat pump tech, HVAC testing, or standards.
• Strong knowledge of EN 14511, EN 14825, EN 12102, EN 16147, ISO 5151, ISO 13253, ISO 16358.
• Experience in accredited testing or certification environments.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage heat pump certification and testing projects from initial engagement to final certification.
• Define project scope, testing requirements, costs, timelines, and technical deliverables.
• Review technical documentation, product designs, and test data to determine compliance with applicable standards.
• Provide technical recommendations and resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Coordinate testing at manufacturer facilities and third-party laboratories.
• Develop technical guidance, training materials, and best practice documentation.
• Support accreditation activities, technical audits, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
