A leading insurance firm is seeking a Senior General Accountant in Milan. This role includes overseeing financial reporting, managing accounting processes, and ensuring compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in insurance accounting and strong interpersonal skills, contributing to a diverse and innovative environment.

Competenze

At Munich ReItaly, we are adding to our diverse team of experts and are looking to hire a Senior General Accountant who, reporting to the Business Operations Executives Manager, oversight for General Accounting and Local Tax positions and ensures that all activities of team members comply with legal, professional and ethical standards as expected of persons in the accounting profession.

  • Overseeing the preparation of the annual Italian GAAP balance sheet for income tax and handling local tax audits, appeals, and court proceedings in collaboration with the Business Operations Executive Manager;
  • Facilitating the posting of accounting basis adjustments required for branch reporting to Head Office and maintaining transparent relationships with central accounting and reporting teams;
  • Being responsible for the maintenance and control of the general ledger for Munich Re Italy and overseeing closing activities and financial reports and statement commentary in collaboration with the Business Operations Executive Manager;
  • Improving accounting processes by maintaining up-to-date accounting policies, procedures, and process manuals. in order to achieve efficiencies;
  • Assisting local colleagues in understanding financial accounting and reporting topics;
  • Acting as the internal contact person for legal, regulatory, and statutory matters and interfacing with law firms, regarding the area of responsibility, in collaboration with the Business Operations Executives Manager

Your profile

  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Business and Management or related fields;
  • 10-12 years of experience in insurance accounting/financials, with knowledge of reinsurance accounting being a plus;
  • Ability to foster an environment where value-added reporting is delivered across the business using group systems and tools, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and consistency;
  • Proven experience in participating in multiple business and central projects as needed, including team steering of delegated tasks;
  • A strategic thinker and self-assured decision-maker, with agile project management abilities;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both Italian and English.
