Job summary

Thales Italy is seeking an experienced FPGA design engineer to strengthen the Electronics domain. You will define architectures, implement RTL, and lead verification for digital parts of document readers and biometric scanners.

You will work on high‑performance FPGA architectures, optimize power and timing, and collaborate with electronics and board engineers to ensure robust product delivery. This role is based in Grugliasco, Italy, and focuses on Altera/Intel‑era FPGA tools and sensor

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience with FPGA design from architecture to timing closure and hardware validation.

Responsibilities

• Define FPGA architecture and detailed design specifications from system requirements.
• Design, implement, and maintain RTL in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Develop and execute the verification strategy with testbenches and simulations.
• Perform synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis and closure.
• Integrate and validate interfaces (MIPI CSI-2, SLVS-EC, PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, UART/SPI/I2C).
• Implement image/streaming data processing along the sensor data path on FPGA.
• Optimize FPGA resources, power, and performance.
• Support board bring-up, debugging and system integration.
• Develop automation scripts (Python, Tcl, Bash).
• Document design decisions, verification results, and processes.
• Contribute to project planning, risk assessment and execution.
• Evaluate and introduce current FPGA practices to improve quality.
