Role Overview
The Field Engineer role is part of multi-disciplined project teams responsible for designing and delivering complex mission-critical voice and data systems. These systems may be used directly by our customers or by Motorola Solutions to deliver Managed Services.
Field Engineers work during the post-sales phase of projects and may support multiple projects depending on their size and complexity. There may also be a requirement to support Pre-sales and Services Organization.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Field Engineer
- Manage and/or perform implementation of communication system solutions and services to meet customer, end-user, and operator requirements.
- Lead or participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), coordinating technical aspects of acceptance testing.
- Responsible for installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of MSI and third-party solutions with vendor support.
- Identify, investigate, and troubleshoot technical issues during project implementation.
- Conduct on-site Acceptance Tests, coordinating technical aspects.
- Update technical documentation and manage technical changes.
- Attend customer meetings, provide status updates, and generate project reports.
- Engage in self-development through training, experience, and knowledge transfer.
- Coordinate with customers, partners, and subcontractors on project deployment and best practices.
- Ensure project delivery aligns with Motorola Solutions' Quality, Health, and Safety standards.
Basic Requirements
- Fluent in English and Italian.
- Minimum 3 years of professional engineering experience in Telecommunication Systems, IP Transport Networks, IT, Field Service, Technical Support, or equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge of MotoTrbo Capacity Max or other DMR Tier III radio communication systems.
- Certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or higher.
- Strong knowledge of Operating Systems and Applications (Unix, Windows, Virtualization).
- Good understanding of Radio Frequency equipment and testing tools.
- Manual skills for field work including wiring, soldering, and physical installation.
- Valid driving license.
- Willingness to travel up to 80%, domestically and internationally.
- Willing to obtain security clearance for customer site access.
Preferred qualifications include a degree in Telecommunication, Computer, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related fields, though skills and experience are valued over formal education.
Additional Experience (Advantageous)
- Experience with Command and Control Systems, troubleshooting, and system integration.
- Experience with Motorola technologies like DIMETRA, WAVE/Kodiak, NICE Voice Logging, LTE RAN and EPC.
Travel & Relocation
Over 75% travel required. Relocation support provided for domestic moves.
