Job summary

ABB Smart Power invites experienced firmware engineers to join its Bergamo-based team. You will design, develop, and test firmware for protection circuit breakers and communication modules in a hybrid work model, collaborating with global engineers in an Agile Scrum environment.

Required: 8–10+ years in embedded firmware, strong C/C++, RTOS knowledge, and proficiency with Python and Azure DevOps. Travel abroad for projects may be involved.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Information or Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, or comparable field.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++, solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with Python for scripting, test automation, development tools, or similar activities.
• 8–10+ years firmware development for embedded industrial applications.
• Solid understanding of embedded systems, RTOS, and microcontroller architectures.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and implementing firmware for industrial protection circuit breakers and communication modules.
• Contributing to firmware development processes and cyber security improvements.
• Performing unit, integration, and system testing to ensure quality.
• Supporting patent-related activities and innovation through technical solutions.
• Participating in an Agile Scrum team with sprint planning and ceremonies.
• Collaborating with system architects and developers to translate requirements into firmware specs.
