Senior Electrical Engineer – Milan

Data Center Construction

A leading European engineering contractor delivering large-scale, mission-critical projects is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a major data center build in Milan. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can drive technical delivery, coordinate design and construction activities, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance across all electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Review electrical designs and identify gaps, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications.
• Validate cable sizing and provide recommendations.
• Complete technical assessments and resolve electrical engineering issues.
• Compile and manage electrical technical submittals through full approval cycle.
• Track procurement, delivery, and verification of electrical equipment.
• Attend and record supply chain meetings to monitor progress.
• Maintain and update progress trackers aligned with the construction schedule.
• Collaborate with BIM to ensure constructability and adequate installation space.
• Liaise with design teams and supply chain partners for correct operation and handover.
• Carry out electrical system walk-downs to confirm compliance with drawings / specs.
• Compile test packs, FTOPs, and O&M manuals.
• Manage specialist vendors during commissioning.
• Lead and participate in client training during handover.
• Lead engineering design and design management tasks within the project team.
• Provide technical support across design development, coordination, and subcontractor management.
• Support QA system improvements and conduct project reviews.
• Provide technical input to estimating, procurement, commercial, and bid teams.
• Offer off-site technical support to project teams when required.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and graduates.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• 7+ years’ experience in project engineering within a construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of LV and MV systems, ideally within data center or building services projects.
• Understanding of Design Guides, Codes of Practice, ETCI / BS7671, Building Regulations, and EN / IEC Standards.
• Proficient in Amtech, Dialux, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD 2D, and MS Office.
• Experience managing clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Proven delivery of electrical projects across commercial, industrial, pharma, or data centre sectors.
• Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of EHS and quality management systems.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills.
• Analytical, decisive, and process-driven, with strong safety and quality focus.
• Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Innovative, proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
