Shakers, a fast-growing fintech in Milan, seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to own a cloud-native platform on Google Cloud Platform, built with Kubernetes, Terraform and Flux CD. You will define deployment, observation and recovery standards, working to ensure reliability, security and regulatory compliance across the fintech stack.

You will mentor the wider tech team and partner with Payments, Onboarding and Billing to harden resilience.

Competenze

• 4+ years in DevOps, SRE or Software Engineering with strong operational exposure.
• Extensive hands-on GCP experience (GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Monitoring).
• Terraform at production scale; Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD design and implementation (GitHub Actions).
• Monitoring/logging with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Strong troubleshooting across app, network and system layers.
• Fluent English.

A fast-growing fintech in Milan is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of a cloud-native platform running on Google Cloud Platform, built on Kubernetes, Terraform and Flux CD.

The challenge

This is the first full-time DevOps hire. The infrastructure exists and works, but the practices around it are still being defined. You will assess the current IaC implementation, close the gap between test and production, and set the standard for how the platform is deployed, observed and recovered. The product handles financial operations for thousands of SMEs, so reliability and compliance are not optional extras.

Responsibilities

• Own the cloud infrastructure end to end: reliability, scalability and security posture.
• Assess the existing Terraform implementation and replicate best practices from test to production.
• Optimize and automate CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Flux CD.
• Strengthen the observability framework (Prometheus, Grafana, Google-native tooling, OpenTelemetry).
• Draft and implement disaster recovery plans for core infrastructure components.
• Partner with the Payments, Onboarding and Billing teams to build resilience and recovery into their applications.
• Drive cost optimization and performance tuning across GCP services.

Requirements

• 4+ years in DevOps, SRE or Software Engineering roles with strong operational exposure.
• Extensive hands-on GCP experience: GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Monitoring.
• Terraform at production scale.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD design and implementation, ideally with GitHub Actions.
• Monitoring and logging with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Strong troubleshooting across application, network (TCP/IP) and system layers.
• Fluent English.

Nice to have

• Event-driven architectures with Pub/Sub or Kafka.
• Performance and cost optimization in high-traffic environments.
• MLOps.
• Background in regulated sectors (finance, healthcare, crypto).
• Node.js or TypeScript for automation and tooling.
