Descrizione del lavoro
Overview

MDOTM is the leader in AI-driven investment solutions. In 2017, we were the only European fintech startup selected by Google for their acceleration program in Silicon Valley. Since then, we have been growing continuously through our offices in London, Milan & New York.

You will be part of MDOTM’s Platform Team. As our Senior DevOps Engineer, you will apply your expertise to solve complex challenges at scale. You’ll own critical platform components, drive technical excellence, and collaborate with product teams to deliver a seamless, reliable, and high-performance platform.

Responsibilities

Your tasks will include

  • Build & enhance platform services: Design, develop and maintain core Java / Spring Boot microservices that provide common capabilities (authentication, data pipelines, messaging) for internal consumers.
  • Enable DevOps flow: Implement and automate CI / CD pipelines (GitLab CI / CD) to ensure fast, safe, and repeatable releases across environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use Terraform and Ansible to provision and manage on premise and AWS resources in a controlled, auditable manner.
  • Containerization & orchestration: Package services with Docker and operate them on Kubernetes, promoting declarative configuration and GitOps practices.
  • Observability & reliability: Instrument applications for tracing, metrics and logs (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Zabbix) and participate in on‑call rotations to keep MTTR low.
  • Data solutions: Optimise interactions with MySQL and MongoDB, ensuring integrity, performance, and automated schema migrations.
  • Security & compliance: Embed security best practices (OWASP Top 10, least privilege IAM, shift‑left testing) into every stage of the SDLC.
  • Collaborative design: Participate in technical design discussions, influence architectural decisions, and document runbooks & standards that raise the bar for all teams.
  • Continuous improvement: Champion DevOps culture—you build it, you run it—and share knowledge through demos, pair programming, and internal workshops.
Qualifications
  • Skills required
  • Professional experience: Experience building backend services in Java with Spring Boot, plus hands‑on exposure to DevOps tooling or cloud‑native operations.
  • Java mastery: Solid understanding of OOP, clean code principles, and common design patterns.
  • API craftsmanship: Proven experience designing, documenting, and securing RESTful APIs.
  • CI / CD mindset: Comfortable with Git workflows and at least one pipeline system (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
  • Containers & Kubernetes: Ability to write Dockerfiles and debug containerized apps.
  • Testing & quality: Habit of writing unit, integration and e2e tests (JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, Playwright) and using static analysis / linters in the pipeline.
  • Soft skills: Clear English communication, collaborative spirit, and a growth mindset aligned with DevOps culture of shared ownership and rapid feedback.
  • Good knowledge of English (both written and spoken).
Bonus points
  • Experience with event‑driven systems (ActiveMQ).
  • Contributions to open‑source DevOps or Java projects.
  • Practical use of Ansible, Terraform or similar to manage infrastructure reproducibly.
  • Observability basics: Exposure to monitoring / alerting stacks and a curiosity for SRE principles.
  • Working knowledge of AWS fundamentals (EC2, S3, IAM).
  • Financial‑services or high‑throughput data processing background.
