Overview

As a Microsoft Senior Data Center Technician (SDCT), you will demonstrate expertise in standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning equipment. You will have a holistic understanding of network and server equipment functions and interactions. Your role includes providing input to improve processes and guiding other technicians.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) powers our cloud services. As a CO+I DCT, you will deliver core infrastructure and foundational technologies for services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; basic knowledge of computer hardware; proven experience supporting IT equipment.
• On-site presence required; personal transport recommended due to limited public transit.
• Ability to meet security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with IT equipment support and working in mission-critical data centers.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, MCP, and others.

Responsibilities

• Apply diagnostic expertise to identify issues quickly.
• Decommission hardware following standard procedures.
• Guide technicians in hardware installation, deployment, and startup/shutdown procedures.
• Ensure quality standards, coordinate downtime, and keep stakeholders informed.
• Mentor technicians and escalate issues as needed.
• Verify safety, security, and compliance during decommissioning and device destruction.
• Monitor KPIs and participate in performance discussions.
• Provide training and guidance to technicians.
• Conduct safety briefings and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Take pride and accountability in service quality and user experience.
