We are hiring a Senior Data Scientist for our AI Engine team in Portugal!

We seek a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join our team in Brazil / Portugal and contribute to innovative projects in Generative AI. You will help shape AI-powered wellness solutions by leveraging Generative AI, fine-tuning LLMs, and evaluating Agentic systems.

As a Data Scientist in the CARE team, you will develop cutting-edge Agentic AI to enhance and personalize the wellness journey for millions of Wellhub subscribers. Your work will advance AI's role in wellness, making it more adaptive and impactful. You will collaborate with engineers and domain experts to create innovative AI applications and solve real-world problems.

YOUR IMPACT

  1. Model Development & Fine-tuning: Understanding deep learning techniques like Transformers and attention mechanisms, and fine-tuning LLMs using methods such as LoRA, QLoRA.
  2. Function Calling & Tool Use: Designing function calling mechanisms within LLMs for dynamic API, database, and RAG pipeline interactions.
  3. Prompt Engineering: Creating clear instructions and reusable templates for models, testing edge cases.
  4. Data Preparation: Preprocessing and analyzing datasets for training and fine-tuning models.
  5. Evaluation and Testing: Developing frameworks to assess AI performance, including automated, adversarial, and human-in-the-loop evaluations.
  6. LLM Observability: Monitoring LLM behavior in production, focusing on retrieval, hallucinations, and latency.
  7. Research and Innovation: Keeping current with generative AI research, sharing insights, and testing new approaches.
  8. Deployment: Collaborating with engineering teams for scalable model deployment.

Main requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related.
  • Proficiency in Python and frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong understanding of generative AI architectures, transformers, and attention mechanisms.
  • Experience with multi-agent systems and LLMs.
  • Problem-solving skills, experimental design, and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex concepts.
  • Clear scientific thinking and passion for integrating R&D into products.

Prior experience in Python and SQL is mandatory. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, even if not a perfect match.
