Job summary

Duferco is expanding its Innovation Team to build the next generation of software across finance, orders, production, planning and logistics. You will design, implement, and own AI-driven products that improve real business processes and empower users with practical tools.

We seek product-minded data scientists who test hypotheses on real data, measure outcomes, and iterate quickly. The role includes occasional travel to Brescia and a hybrid setup in Italy.

Qualifications

• Must think like a data scientist: hypothesize, test on real data, measure impact.
• Ability to design data models reflecting business processes and rules.
• Experience with ERP/MES integrations is a plus.
• Wamiliarity with AI APIs and ability to evaluate AI-driven solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own AI-enabled products for orders, production, logistics and finance.
• Develop data models that reflect how the business operates and enforces data rules.
• Prototype new process designs and test with real users before scaling.
• Integrate with ERP, internal and third‑party systems, databases, and APIs.
• Monitor products and AI agents in production and iterate based on feedback.

You will work closely with business teams to understand their processes, design better solutions, and turn them into products that make a real difference.

What You’ll Do

Design, build, and own the products of our next-generation core platform:

• Business applications and workflows for orders, production, logistics, and finance
• AI agents that do real operational work within written policies, with human approval where it matters
• Data models that capture how the business really works and the rules the data must respect
• Prototypes that test new process designs with real users before we scale them
• Integrations with ERP, internal and third‑party systems, databases, APIs, and documents
• Evaluation and monitoring of products and AI agents in production
• Adoption: you stay with users until the product fits their needs, and you measure its impact

You’re Probably a Fit If

• You learn fast and love solving problems.
• You enjoy working close to users, in the office and on the shop floor, and turning messy problems into useful solutions.
• You can follow a business process end to end, such as order‑to‑cash or production planning, and turn it into clear workflows, data models, and products people want to use.
• You think like a product owner: you ask why, you measure impact, and you care about adoption as much as delivery.
• You can explore a dataset, find patterns or opportunities, prototype a solution, and explain trade‑offs clearly.
• You are comfortable with LLMs, modern AI APIs, and structured and unstructured data. You know what AI can do, where it fails, and how to evaluate whether a solution is useful.
• You are confident with at least one programming language, also with the help of AI coding tools, and you understand how backend, frontend, and database fit together well enough to judge whether what AI agents build is correct.
• You are available for regular business trips (typically 1–2 days) mainly in Brescia.

Software engineering ability is a plus, as is experience with ERP or MES platforms, legacy modernization, or complex operational domains.

You do not need to know every technology we use: curiosity, product sense, and a deep understanding of processes matter much more.
