What will you be doing?

This is a unique position for a talented, versatile, and pragmatic commercial generalist with good organizational ability, keen negotiating skill and strong business and financial acumen to support Circana’s commercial organization, as well as handle a variety of other commercial matters arising out of our operations. As a member of Circana’s legal team, you will have primary responsibility for supporting Circana' commercial activities in EMEA. Currently, the legal team is working from home with occasional in-office meetings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, negotiate and interpret a variety of agreements, including but not limited to, software, technology, and data licensing agreements, as well as other complex agreements arising out of Circana’s domestic and international operations.
  • Provide ongoing and proactive strategic advice regarding operational and financial business risks and counsel on contract interpretation and potential dispute issues.
  • Provide business practical guidance, ensuring alignment with company policies and industry standards.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory matters in EMEA and provide direction to the commercial teams and contribute to related cross-functional projects.
  • Work closely with management and legal teams in other regions on strategic initiatives affecting contracts and other commercial issues to ensure a consistent and effective approach to legal risk management.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of company policies and best practices.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of contract templates in line with emerging laws and regulations across EMEA.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified lawyer, postgraduate from an accredited law school with proven academic success.
  • Experienced within a global business / commercial environment, including hands-on experience reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and interpreting a variety of sophisticated agreements.
  • Preference for experience in software, technology (including AI), and data licensing agreements.
  • Strong business and financial acumen and the ability to understand our business, and clients and partners’ businesses, proactively.
  • Ability to identify the aspects of an agreement or transaction that matter the most to the business and be proactive in addressing potential issues.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with other functional areas, inspire confidence and trust with senior management and others at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (proficiency in English being essential).
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple workstreams independently as well as participate in team projects.
  • Interest in international business, open mind and eagerness to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Solid knowledge of all MS Office Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Experience in use of contract / matter management tools.
