Construction Senior Engineer Job Description
The Construction Senior Engineer is typically assigned to a project and integrated into the Project Team to oversee both Home Office and Site construction activities. The main responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Construction Manager (CSM) in executing duties and preparing all deliverables required during various phases of Home Office Construction activities.
- Assisting the CSM at the site in managing and coordinating construction subcontractors and related field activities worldwide.
- Acting as the daily link between the CSM, Project Team, and Engineering departments to ensure timely development and completion of deliverables with all project-specific data, construction requirements, and environmental conditions.
- Supporting the preparation of Bid Inquiry packages for potential construction bidders and obtaining relevant technical qualifications, in coordination with the Subcontracting section.
- Following up on Bid Inquiries and technical answers during the bidding phase, maintaining records of bid bulletins.
- Preparing technical Bid tabulations and recommendations for final negotiations and awards, based on analyses by the CSM and Subcontracting team.
- Managing Working Requisitions (WR).
- Preparing Site Operating Conditions and supporting the implementation of the Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) methodology.
- Contributing to the development of the Construction Execution Plan (CEP) and Constructability studies, as indicated by the CSM.
- Assisting in defining and designing Temporary Construction Facilities (TCF) and Camps, if applicable.
- Preparing the Project Construction deliverables list.
- Supporting Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), Quality, and Project planning activities related to construction deliverables.
Essential Background Components for a Construction Senior Engineer:
- Educational Foundation: Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Civil, Energy, or Chemical.
- Seniority: At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, with direct site experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in English and Italian; good knowledge of OFFICE suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); familiarity with AUTOCAD is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Willingness to undertake international mobility; team-oriented attitude; goal-oriented approach; strong organizational and coordination skills.
Reporting Structure
The Construction Senior Engineer reports hierarchically to the Construction Engineering Group Leader and functionally to the CSM for specific project activities.
