Job summary

EssilorLuxottica in Settimo Milanese, Italy is recruiting a Senior Buyer to lead international sourcing, contract management, and supplier collaboration. You will drive rapid prototype development, cost-reduction projects, and regional supplier contracts for Italy and China, while ensuring compliance and sustainability standards.

The role requires strong negotiations, global supplier management, and cross-functional interaction with Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, Controlling, and Quality

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of sourcing/purchasing practices and procedures; contract management experience.
• Experience in global organizations, dealing with international suppliers and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead RFI/RFP/RFQ processes and negotiate favorable terms.
• Analytical mindset with business acumen and cost-optimization focus.
• Fluent in Italian and English; teamwork oriented.

Responsibilities

• Manage negotiations and launch regional RFI/RFP/RFQ across the category using a total cost of ownership approach.
• Oversee suppliers management, scouting new suppliers and consolidating key relationships.
• Evaluate sourcing risks and monitor supplier performance and compliance.
• Develop and manage contracts with local and global suppliers (Italy/China when applicable).
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, Controlling, and Quality teams.

Your role

As Senior Buyer you will:

• Strongly support the team on Direct Sourcing perimeter in 1) enabling rapid and reliable development of prototypes and 2) drive Cost reduction projects on series machinery, ensuring compliance with best practices, IP protection and requested standards of service, quality and sustainability.
• Develop proper global contracts related to common suppliers for Wet Coating COE perimeter (Italy and China)
• On mechanical parts, boost benchmarking with China perimeter to implement an overall optimized and reliable second sources allocation between the two sites
• Act as the main sourcing reference for Settimo Milanese stakeholders, providing targeted intervention when added value or critical escalation is required.
• Drive suppliers management in order to secure key technologies through proper contracts management and fostering suppliers innovation while optimizing overall supplier base
• Secure main critical items working jointly with Supply Chain team through LTA development, Lead time optimization and Consignment stock agreements with suppliers
• Interact with internal stakeholders: Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, Controlling, Sourcing and Quality

Main responsibilities:

• Manage Negotiations and launch regional RFI / RFP / RFQ across the category, following a TCO approach
• Suppliers management on consolidated suppliers & new supplier scouting
• Sourcing risk evaluation and monitoring
• Promote/support second source projects
• Mapping category spend for Settimo Milanese Site
• Manage sourcing issues resolution / resolve suppliers conflicts / manage escalations (e.g. pricing/service/compliance)
• Prepare sourcing reports and presentations for stakeholders/management
• Benchmark with China perimeter
• Develop and manage contracts (both with local suppliers and global suppliers used also by China when applicable)

Main requirements:

• Strong knowledge of sourcing/purchasing practices and procedures, contract management
• Great business acumen and excellent analytical skills
• Wide experience in managing RfQ, RfP, negotiations, contracts, etc
• Experience in global organizations, dealing also with international suppliers and stakeholders
• Strong and motivated team player
• Master Level Degree (preference: Management, Engineering)
• Previous experience in Industrial Equipment manufacturing / White goods / Mechanics
• Fluent in Italian and English
