We are now looking for a

Senior Business Development Manager – Energy Storage Business

to join our team working for a better future.

The position is permanent and remote and will be based in Italy.

What you will be doing

We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to operate within Italy and our European growth markets. You will be responsible for leading energy storage sales across cross-functional teams, ensuring predictable, profitable sales and successful project execution.

You will report to the Area Sales Director.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Leading energy storage sales opportunities from initial bid to contract execution
  • Vetting customers and opportunities for resource efficiency
  • Managing and maintaining key account relationships
  • Implementing correct pricing strategies and accurate cost estimations
  • Leading stakeholders and sales teams to meet business goals
  • Utilizing S&OP data for assessing costs and schedules
  • Understanding tender requirements and preparing high-quality offers
  • Evaluating and mitigating risks
  • Conducting internal reviews and securing approvals
  • Following Wärtsilä contracting policies and ensuring proper contract terms
  • Leading contract negotiations and developing sales strategies
  • Tracking project sales progress in CRM (Salesforce)
  • Maintaining proper sales documentation
  • Ensuring smooth transfer of sales to project execution teams
  • Promoting Wärtsilä’s purpose and values of customer success, passion, and performance

Qualifications and skills

  • At least 5 years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy, preferably with battery energy storage
  • Strong safety promotion
  • Proven leadership in high-performing, cross-functional teams

  • Experience in contractual and risk management
