We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for our CODE team - Challenges & Gamefication Squad in Portugal!

CODE is an acronym for Consumer Digital Experience, which means we're in charge of the experience and services that will guide people in their wellbeing journey. Our main goal in CODE is to make every company a wellness company. From knowing about Wellhub, and getting access to exclusive benefits, to using our vast partner's network, it is in the end-user experience.

CODE teams are responsible for developing and maintaining Wellhub's App, frontend and backend services, and Design System, working closely with product, UX, and data teams to create an excellent experience for our platform users.

Our mission as Challenges & Gamefication Squad is to make users have more fun using Wellhub Services. We are creating new products to engage users and working closely with health data platforms (like AppleHealth and Google Health) to facilitate access and sharing of user health data across the Wellhub ecosystem.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Senior Software Engineer, you are a passionate developer driven by delivering high-quality work on time. You will have opportunities to lead architectural decisions, suggest improvements, and collaborate with product and other business teams in an agile environment.

You will be accountable for your decisions, take ownership of critical features, review pull requests, participate in architectural decisions, and mentor less experienced developers.

You are data-driven, simplify your scope, and are bold and innovative. You are eager to learn and share knowledge to increase your impact.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you :

• Deliver timely, high-quality work, conduct insightful code reviews, and build reusable code.
• Lead architectural decisions, share improvement opportunities, innovate, and keep design documentation up to date.
• Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to influence the business.
• Ensure successful deliveries and promote the long-term health of our systems.
• Own critical features, monitor KPIs, and be responsible for product quality.
• Uphold high code quality standards and best practices like code review, pair programming, TDD.
• Mentor less experienced developers.
• Participate in incident resolution and troubleshooting.
• Promote wellbeing and a supportive work environment, encouraging work-life balance.

Main requirements

We expect you to have the following qualifications :

• At least 5 years of experience in web development, with a true team-oriented mindset.
• Experience designing and developing complex modern web applications.
• Experience developing RESTful web services and collaborating with front-end teams.
• Proficiency in at least two programming languages such as Go, Scala, Kotlin, or Java.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS.
• Experience with prototypes, MVP, A/B testing, and feature toggles.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and KPIs.
• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, and AWS cloud architecture.
• Strong communication skills in English and Portuguese.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work autonomously and in teams, multi-task, and adapt quickly.

Nice to have

• Experience with System Integrations.
• Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
