Job summary

3M Italy is seeking a Senior Application Engineer for the Abrasive Systems Division in Pioltello. You will lead customer-driven growth, develop new applications, and drive product commercialization while coordinating field trials and leveraging market insights.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree or higher, strong documentation and presentation abilities, hands-on fabrication experience with industrial abrasives, and bilingual Italian/English proficiency with Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Ability to document technical work and present results.
• Hands-on construction and fabrication experience with industrial abrasives.
• Experience leading strategic programs, including AE Lead for high-impact NPI initiatives.
• Advanced skills in relevant markets; roles such as Application Engineer/Technical Service/R&D.
• Native Italian and advanced English language proficiency.
• Desirable background in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science.
• Excellent prioritization and communication skills; Spanish desirable.

Skills and Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Ability and willingness to effectively document technical work and present results
• Hands‑on construction and fabrication experience, particularly utilizing industrial abrasives
• Proven capability and experience in leading strategic programs, including serving as AE Lead for high‑impact NPI initiatives, supporting innovation and the expansion of new and existing technologies, products, and businesses.
• Advanced Skills in relevant market, former positions e. g. Application Engineer/Technical Service/R&D
• Language knowledge: native Italian speaker, advanced in English
• Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Material Science
• Excellent Prioritization Communication Skills Spanish desirable

Location and Travel

Location: 3M Italy, Pioltello
Frequently requested to be present at the CTC (Customer Technical Centre at 3M Carpiano)
Travel: may include up to 50% (mainly domestic, occasionally international)
Working pattern: full time

Contract and Compensation

The position is classified at level Impiegato B2 under the National Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCNL) for the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry (Industria), CNEL code B011.
The gross annual remuneration envisaged for the role ranges between € 50.000 and € 55.000. The determination of the final starting remuneration within this range will be agreed taking into account the Company's organizational context, the provisions of the applicable CCNL, and objective and gender‑neutral criteria, including professional qualifications, relevant work experience, skills and competencies possessed, and the level of responsibility associated with the position.
The position may also provide access to a variable remuneration component of up to 5,67% of the gross annual remuneration, subject to the Company results.
Additional benefits and allowances may be granted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, the relevant CCNL, and the Company policies and programmes in force at the commencement of employment.
