Job summary

3M Italy is seeking a Senior Application Engineer for Abrasive Systems Division in Pioltello, Milan area, on-site, full-time. You will lead customer collaborations, drive new application development and product commercialization, and coordinate field trials with lead customers.

You will leverage 3M resources to develop high‑impact applications, shape industry practices, deliver market‑focused training, and guide NPI initiatives while aligning with local standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.

• Hands‑on construction and fabrication experience, particularly utilizing industrial abrasives.
• Proven capability and experience in leading strategic AE/NPI programs, supporting innovation and expansion of technologies, products, and businesses.
• Advanced skills in relevant market, former positions e.g. Application Engineer/Technical Service/R&D.
• Language knowledge: native Italian speaker, advanced in English.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Ability and willingness to effectively document technical work and present results
• Hands‑on construction and fabrication experience, particularly utilizing industrial abrasives
• Proven capability and experience in leading strategic programs, including serving as AE Lead for high‑impact NPI initiatives, supporting innovation and the expansion of new and existing technologies, products, and businesses.
• Advanced Skills in relevant market, former positions e. g. Application Engineer/Technical Service/R&D
• Language knowledge: native Italian speaker, advanced in English

Country Specifics

• Location: 3M Italy, Pioltello
• Frequently requested to be present at the CTC (Customer Technical Centre at 3M Carpiano)
• Travel: may include up to 50% (mainly domestic, occasionally international)
• Working pattern: full time
• The position is classified at level Impiegato B2 under the National Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCNL) for the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry (Industria), CNEL code B011. The gross annual remuneration envisaged for the role ranges between € 50.000 and € 55.000.The determination of the final starting remuneration within this range will be agreed taking into account the Company’s organizational context, the provisions of the applicable CCNL, and objective and gender‑neutral criteria, including professional qualifications, relevant work experience, skills and competencies possessed, and the level of responsibility associated with the position.
• The position may also provide access to a variable remuneration component of up to 5,67% of the gross annual remuneration, subject to the Company results.
• Additional benefits and allowances may be granted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, the relevant CCNL, and the Company policies and programmes in force at the commencement of employment.
