Descrizione del lavoro

Job Description

Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARWR) is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company that develops medicines to treat intractable diseases by silencing the genes that cause them. Using a broad portfolio of RNA chemistries and efficient modes of delivery, Arrowhead therapies trigger the RNA interference mechanism to induce rapid, deep, and durable knockdown of target genes. RNA interference, or RNAi, is a mechanism present in living cells that inhibits the expression of a specific gene, thereby affecting the production of a specific protein. Arrowhead's RNAi-based therapeutics leverage this natural pathway of gene silencing.

Arrowhead focuses on developing innovative drugs for diseases with a genetic basis, often characterized by overproduction of proteins involved in the disease. The depth and versatility of our RNAi technologies enable us to address conditions across various therapeutic areas and pursue disease targets not accessible by small molecules and biologics. We are leading the field in bringing RNAi therapies beyond liver diseases, with clinical pipeline targets in liver and lung, along with promising preclinical candidates.

Our corporate headquarters is in Pasadena, CA, with research and development teams in Madison, WI, and San Diego, CA. Our employees are nimble, science-driven innovators collaborating to bring new therapies to patients in need.

The Position

The Scientist will work in the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls Group, focusing on process validation and aspects of small-molecule and macromolecule process development. The role emphasizes group data review, technical report writing, and maintenance. This position is ideal for an individual with an organic chemistry background interested in synthesis, purification, and characterization of oligonucleotides and bioconjugates, with a focus on process validation.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain technical reports, characterization reports, presentations, SOPs, and policies and procedures.
  • Lead characterization and validation technical data review and notebook maintenance.
  • Track project progress, generate status updates, and communicate findings to management, including presenting at team meetings.
  • Develop synthetic approaches for desired compounds, considering large-scale synthesis and process validation.
  • Synthesize, purify, and characterize small molecules and macromolecules, aiming for robust procedures.
  • Collaborate with scientists to prepare complex organic constructs.
  • Analyze targets using standard methods and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks.
  • Analyze data with statistical software and discuss follow-up actions with supervisors.
  • Mentor and coach team members to foster continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
  • MS in Chemistry or related field with at least 5 years of laboratory experience, or BS with 8+ years of experience.
  • Experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn new techniques and perform tasks independently.
Additional Preferred Experience
  • Experience with small or large molecule synthesis in academic or industrial settings.
  • Familiarity with GLP/GMP regulations and process validation.
  • Experience with analytical techniques like HPLC, UV-Vis, mass spectrometry.
  • Experience with JMP or similar statistical software.
  • Ability to perform complex math and interpret graphs and charts.
