A technology solutions company in Rome is seeking a SCADA & IoT Specialist to design and implement advanced digital solutions in industrial settings. The role requires over 4 years of experience in SCADA & IoT, strong knowledge of relevant protocols, and skills in programming. You will manage projects and develop complex architectures, as well as lead the research and development of emerging technologies. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Overview

Job Title: SCADA & IoT Specialist

Location: On-site, 5 days / week at the customer’s HQ in Rome.

Job Type: Full-time

Contract Type: Contract / day rate - negotiable

Job Description: We are looking for an experienced SCADA & IoT Specialist to design and implement next-generation industrial digitalisation solutions. You will work on complex SCADA architectures integrated with IoT, cloud, and cybersecurity technologies, helping shape the future of connected systems in industries such as automation, energy, and smart infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design & develop complex architectures integrating SCADA and IoT.
• Define technical specifications and system requirements.
• Select & evaluate the best technologies and software platforms.
• Implement end-to-end SCADA & IoT solutions:
• Device integration
• Platform configuration
• User interface design
• Control logic development
• Integrate SCADA with cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, GCP) and enterprise systems.
• Manage projects and development teams.
• Provide technical support & system maintenance.
• Lead R&D of emerging technologies in SCADA and IoT.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of SCADA & IoT experience.
• Strong knowledge of SCADA protocols & software: Modbus, OPC, IEC 104; iFix, WinCC, Movicon.
• IoT expertise: Protocols MQTT, CoAP; Radio LoRaWAN; Devices: sensors, gateways.
• Cloud: GCP, AWS IoT, Azure IoT; API & web services development.
• Programming: C++, Python, Java.
• Experience with microservices & containerized solutions (Kubernetes).
• Skills in industrial cybersecurity.
• Database experience (SQL & NoSQL).
• Problem-solving mindset, communication & teamwork.

Bonus Skills

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
• Certifications in SCADA / IoT.
• English proficiency (spoken & written).
