SATELLITE TLC ENGINEER

Job Description:

INTRODUCTION

Telespazio is a joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%) and one of the world’s biggest suppliers of satellite solutions and services. The company teams up with Thales Alenia Space to form the parent companies’ Space Alliance, a strategic partnership offering a complete range of space services. Founded in Italy in 1961, Telespazio is based in Rome and employs over 3000 people across various subsidiaries and joint ventures.

The position involves technical activities in the field of SATELLITE TLC, focusing on the design, implementation, and management of global SAT TLC networks. The requirements include:

• A degree in computer/telecommunications engineering
• At least 2 years of experience in the TLC SAT field
• English proficiency at Level B2 (written and spoken)
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols

MISSION

• Design, implement, and manage global TLC SAT networks, including optimization of space segment resources.
• Provide technical support to the commercial team, including drafting customer requirements and design specifications.
• Scout for solutions and products related to TLC SAT.
• Knowledge responsibilities include:
• Link Budget Analysis for GEO orbit systems (modulation techniques and end-to-end link components)
• SAT baseband technologies (iDirect, Hughes, Comtech, Newtec, Cobham)
• Master and VSAT antenna system technology

ACTIVITIES

• Evolutionary design of satellite network infrastructures
• Configuration of SAT network devices
• Design and documentation of network architecture and technical notes
• Utilization of Office tools (especially Excel) and basic Python for task optimization
• Multi-tasking with priority setting and process tracking
• Analysis and troubleshooting of network issues in satellite networks
• Configuration and management of monitoring systems
