Introduction:

Serco is a trusted leader in Space Services, with a proud history spanning over 55 years and a track record of supporting more than 50 space missions for world-renowned agencies like ESA and NASA. Our expertise covers the entire space lifecycle—from satellite testing and launch services to spacecraft operations, space surveillance, and data management—making us a key partner in advancing national strategies and driving innovation in the New Space era.

The Community You Will Join:

You will work in an international, diverse team, surrounded by top-tier scientists, engineers, and technical experts who inspire and challenge you every day. You'll have ongoing opportunities to grow through specialized training and professional development tailored to the space sector, all while being part of a company that genuinely values work-life balance, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to excellence. As you contribute to innovative projects and mission-critical systems, you'll gain hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technologies and collaborate closely with major space agencies, becoming part of something truly extraordinary.

The Difference You Will Make:

You will contribute directly to some of Earth's most exciting space programmes, from Earth observation and climate monitoring to satellite navigation and space safety. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring mission success, enabling better decision-making on Earth and driving innovation in orbit. Whether you're helping managing spacecraft operations, analysing mission data, or supporting software and systems development, your expertise will help move Earth's space ambitions forward.

Your Mission:

The role focuses on supporting the system engineering and AIV (Assembly, Integration and Validation) activities for the IRIDE Ground Segment, ensuring that all components, from PDGS to downstream services, work together consistently. The work involves producing and maintaining system engineering documentation, including requirements, interface definitions, and end-to-end service descriptions. It also includes contributing to integration and validation test plans, procedures, and reports, as well as defining and executing test campaigns to verify overall system performance. Monitoring KPIs is a key part of the role to ensure service reliability and performance across the Ground Segment and related platforms like the Marketplace. In addition, the position requires reviewing and preparing technical documentation such as validation plans and test reports and actively participating in technical meetings and reviews with ESA and industry partners.

What You Bring to the Mission:

The ideal candidate has a university degree in engineering or a related technical field, along with at least five years of relevant professional experience. You bring strong expertise in integration and validation testing, ideally within Earth Observation Ground Segments, and have a solid background in system engineering activities such as requirements management and interface definition. You are comfortable planning and executing test schedules, and have hands-on experience managing system and software anomalies, including reporting, analysis, classification, and resolution. The role requires good programming skills to develop tools for testing, validation, and monitoring, as well as strong proficiency with Linux operating systems and a working knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL or PostgreSQL. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders, combined with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem solving. Additional desirable skills include familiarity with Earth Observation data product formats, knowledge of ECSS standards, and understanding of IRIDE missions and FOS/PDGS development processes. Experience with end-to-end service definition, KPI monitoring frameworks, or service-oriented architectures is also considered as an advantage.
