The Public Sector Sales Director will manage all accounts in the region, focusing on new business and renewals, working on RFPs, preparing demos, and developing relationships with Federal, State, Local, and Education customers. With an understanding of the telecom landscape, the Sales Director will help penetrate new markets and strengthen relationships across technical and procurement organizations at existing clients.

Expectations for Success
  • Manage sales activities with new prospects and existing clients
  • Serve as the primary contact for contract renewals and negotiations
  • Demonstrate product offerings and value propositions via web or in-person meetings
  • Develop and grow relationships across customer’s business and technical teams
  • Educate and support clients to maximize product utilization
  • Support a customer base comprising technical, engineering, marketing, legal, and procurement staff
  • Engage with Directors and Senior executives to support business needs
  • Collaborate with technical account management and sales teams to review account health and identify growth opportunities
  • Advocate for customer requirements internally at Ookla
  • Continuously update knowledge on new technologies to support customer growth
Requirements

  • Ability to travel domestically for client engagements
  • Experience in the Telecommunications market (fixed/mobile networks, access) with Federal and/or State/Local governments
  • 10+ years in Sales or Business Development working with government entities
  • Strong communication skills, capable of engaging across all organizational levels in diverse markets
  • Strategic account planning and execution abilities
  • Experience with SFDC
  • Responsible and efficient, able to work independently
  • Experience negotiating sales contracts with a consultative approach
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience with crowdsourcing, benchmarking, or customer experience management is a plus
