Job Description & Accountabilities
We are looking for a responsible for supporting Hitachi Rail’s expansion into the European and domestic railway markets. This role includes leading bids for project opportunities and providing technical support during pre-bidding phases. The responsibilities include:
- Identifying contacts in organizations, generating leads with prospective customers and partners
- Scouting for and identifying new business opportunities, markets, trends, customers, partners, products, and services
- Supporting market development and industry segment analysis
- Understanding customer needs and developing plans to meet them, including setting objectives to develop and improve the business
- Providing technical value in pre-bidding discussions, understanding Hitachi Rail’s product portfolio and industrial processes
- Supporting market dialogues and RFI activities, leading responses to customer questionnaires and liaising internally as needed
- Contributing to negotiations and contract acquisitions during bidding
- Identifying technology trends and product needs to support R&D roadmaps
- Aligning promotional strategies and activities with Sales and Marketing teams, including attending seminars and conferences
- Supporting the corporate approval process according to standards
- Implementing Hitachi Rail’s Health and Safety policies
- Performing other duties as required
Required Skills and Knowledge
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in railway sales, business development, or project management
- Experience with procurement/bidding portals or data analysis systems
- Tenacity, drive, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, effective networking
- Stakeholder relationship management
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Willingness to travel within Europe
- Willingness to relocate to Naples or Pistoia if applicable
- Experience in the rolling stock passenger sector and international markets
- Engineering background with knowledge of train technical aspects
- Experience with TCO evaluation models
- Knowledge of railway market models (technical and economical)
- Understanding of health and safety requirements
Education / Qualifications
University Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Economics with industrial product experience.
Languages
- Fluent English
- Additional European languages (e.g., French, German, Spanish) are a plus
