We are hiring a Safety Manager to oversee safety performance during the installation of solar panels at a large-scale solar field in Milan, MI. This is a 4-month 1099 contract opportunity ideal for professionals with strong roofing and solar experience ready to hit the ground running.

This role requires a hands-on safety leader with a solid background in OSHA 1926 compliance, hazard identification, and contractor oversight. Candidates must be confident managing field operations and collaborating with both project teams and subcontractors.

Compensation

Rate : $48-$50 / hour (based on experience)

Schedule

Schedule : Monday-Saturday

Duration : 4 Months

Project Scope

The Safety Manager will oversee on-site safety compliance for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems across a solar farm project. Duties will include :

• Monitoring contractor safety during panel installation and electrical tie-ins
• Enforcing site-specific safety plans, OSHA standards, and project protocols
• Leading site orientations, toolbox talks, and incident investigations
• Inspecting roofing work, fall protection setups, and equipment operation
• Managing documentation and coordinating with the General Contractor's safety team

Qualifications

5+ years of roofing and solar construction safety experience

OSHA 500 (Required)

Strong knowledge of fall protection, trenching, and solar installation risks

Ability to lead safety compliance in a multi-contractor solar work environment

Strong communication and documentation skills

Additional Requirements

Must have own transportation

Able to work outdoors in varied conditions

Willing to work 6 days per week and meet project deadlines

TWIC or other credentials a plus
