About Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovanelli

Orient Express will open its second hotel in Italy at the exceptional Palazzo Donà Giovannelli in Venice, in partnership with the Italian luxury hotel group ARSENALE. Architect and interior designer Aline Amar d’Amman, alongside her studio Culture in Architecture, has been entrusted to design and decorate the space.

Venice, once the gateway to Constantinople and a mythical stop on the legendary Orient Express train – that opened its doors in 1919 with the completion of the Simplon tunnel linking Switzerland to Italy – will be the home of the second Orient Express hotel, set to open in 2025.

Job Description

The Rooms Division Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of both the Front Office and Housekeeping departments, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and team performance. This leadership role serves as a key link between departments to guarantee smooth coordination and consistent service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the Front Office and Housekeeping teams.
  • Ensure rooms are clean, ready, and assigned according to guest requests and arrival times.
  • Handle overbooking situations, VIP arrivals, guest complaints, and special requests.
  • Monitor occupancy levels and work with the Reservations team to optimize room yield and revenue.
  • Coordinate group check-ins, conferences, and major events.
  • Maintain communication between departments (Reservations, Finance, Engineering, etc.).
  • Ensure grooming, punctuality, and professionalism of staff.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and develop team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and implement training programs.
  • Prepare schedules, payroll reports, and manage staff productivity.
  • Lead daily briefings and monthly departmental meetings.
  • Guest & Service Focus

  • Ensure service excellence for all guests, with special attention to VIPs and long-stay clients.
  • Conduct courtesy calls and gather guest feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of hotel services and emergency procedures.
  • Qualifications

  • Degree in the hospitality field.
  • Proven experience in Rooms Division or similar managerial roles in a 5-star hotel.
  • Hotel Pre-opening experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication with fluency in Italian and English, both spoken and written.
  • Curious, team player, caring about colleagues and guests, attention to details.
  • Ability to lead large teams and ensure high-quality guest service standards.
