Qualcomm Europe, Inc. Italy Branch Office in Turin seeks a Senior Robotics Engineer to bridge embedded hardware and robotics, designing firmware and libraries for Arduino microcontrollers and enabling ROS 2 and micro-ROS integrations. You will optimize real-time control with Zephyr RTOS as needed.

You will prototype robotics solutions from research to production, work with cross-functional teams on requirements, and represent Arduino at events for the developer community.

Competenze

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in engineering or CS with 2+ years in robotics/firmware.
  • 2+ years with C/C++, ROS 2 and micro-ROS in robotics projects.
  • Experience with hardware interfaces and real-time firmware development.

Mansioni

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

  • 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
What You’ll Work On
  • Integrate Arduino microcontrollers and embedded platforms with industry-standard robotics ecosystems (e.g., ROS, ROS 2, micro-ROS).
  • Prototype robotic product solutions from research through to production, ensuring hardware and software harmonize perfectly.
  • Design, develop, code, test, and debug embedded firmware (C/C++) with a focus on robotics applications, including motor control, actuator management, and sensor data acquisition.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams including hardware, application software, Quality Assurance, and product management to define requirements, integrate components, and deliver high-quality products.
  • Represent Arduino at internal / external events and share our spirit with the developers community
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
  • Hands‑on experience developing nodes and architectures using ROS 2 and micro-ROS.
  • Familiarity with robotic middleware communication patterns (Pub/Sub, Services, Actions, DDS).
  • Deep understanding of motor control techniques and hardware, specifically for BLDC (Brushless DC) motors, stepper motors, and servos.
  • Familiarity with core autonomous navigation concepts, such as SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping).
  • Experience integrating and processing data from environmental sensors like LiDAR, Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors, cameras and MEMS.
  • Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ for resource‑constrained embedded systems
  • Extensive experience with hardware interfaces and protocols crucial to robotics (e.g., CAN bus, I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, GPIO).
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written is mandatory
Bonus Points
  • Knowledge of the Arduino and Zephyr ecosystem
  • Knowledge of IoT Protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, TCP, UDP, AMQP).
  • Experience with hardware debugging and tools like JTAG/SWD.
  • Experience with Python and Golang and/or Rust
  • Experience with simulators and physics engines (Gazebo, pyBullet, Mujoco)
  • Experience with machine vision frameworks and deep learning frameworks
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration for fleet management
  • Knowledge of Github
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM and digital fabrication
