Qualcomm Europe, Inc. Italy Branch Office is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to design, develop and test firmware for microcontrollers and embedded platforms. You will maintain the Arduino codebase, contribute to Zephyr RTOS, and collaborate with hardware, QA, and product teams to deliver high-quality firmware solutions.

You will join a mission-driven team with flexible working hours and locations, aimed at empowering people through open-source electronics and digital technologies.

Competenze

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Science or related field with 2+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems
  • Experience with debugging tools and hardware interfaces

Mansioni

  • Design, develop, code, test and debug embedded firmware written in C and/or C++
  • Maintain and improve the Arduino codebase
  • Contribute to open-source projects like Zephyr RTOS
  • Prototype a product solution from research to production

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
What you'll work on
  • Design, develop, code, test and debug embedded firmware written in C and/or C++
  • Maintain and improve the Arduino codebase
  • Contribute to other open-source projects like Zephyr RTOS
  • Prototype a product solution from research to production
  • Create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation for designs, code, and test procedures
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams including hardware, application software, Quality Assurance, and product management to define requirements, integrate components, and deliver high-quality products.
  • Represent Arduino at internal / external events and share our spirit with the developers community
What you bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent field
  • Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ for embedded systems
  • Experience with JTAG/SWD and other debugging tools
  • Experience of Hardware debugging
  • Extensive experience with hardware interfaces and protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, CAN, GPIO)
  • Knowledge of IoT Protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, TCP, UDP, AMQP)
  • Broad knowledge of git flows
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written is mandatory
Bonus Points
  • Knowledge of the Arduino ecosystem
  • Experience with Golang and/or Python

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits

€46,800.00 - €70,800.00 annual (Gross)

The above pay range reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay range for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. This range include two additional months of pay as part of the annual salary. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
