Job Description:

Our beautiful Grand Hotel Timeo, a Belmond Hotel in Sicily, is searching for a talented Restaurant Manager to join our team of passionate professionals.

The ideal candidate has experience working in Italy, ideally in a resort, with extensive F&B management & operations expertise, and a keen eye for detail in delivering excellence to our guests.

This position reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager of Grand Hotel Timeo. The role requires the ability to handle routine matters independently and interact effectively with employees within the immediate business areas. The candidate should establish high participation levels and set operational standards aligned with service standards during the pre- and post-opening stages. Visibility in operations, recognition, good public relations, and handling guest complaints or requests are essential.

The candidate should have expert knowledge of managing F&B logistics and operations, control F&B orders and documentation, and attend operational meetings for coordination. Daily observation of facilities and equipment with recommendations for improvements are also required.

The position is based in Taormina, Sicily, with a full-time contract. You must have the legal right to work in Italy/EU.

The role involves leadership and direction to ensure efficient, effective, and profitable operations of Ristorante Timeo and In Room Dining, supporting F&B initiatives. Responsibilities include managing daily operations, designing setups, and ensuring standards are met.

  • Reports to the Food & Beverage Manager and Assistant.
  • Owns and manages Ristorante Timeo and In Room Dining operations.
  • Handles routine matters independently.
  • Maintains organized documentation.
  • Adheres to company procedures, ensuring confidentiality and high standards.
  • Establishes high participation during project phases to set operational standards.
  • Implements policies aligned with Belmond standards.
  • Maximizes profitability and enhances market reputation.
  • Develops operational policies and oversees venue managers and staff.
  • Plans and improves organizational structure.
  • Stays updated on F&B developments and qualifications.
  • Ensures cost-effectiveness and positive hotel profits.
  • Maintains safe working conditions and resource use.
  • Engages with customers and guests for service improvements.
  • Monitors revenue, costs, and profits against budgets.
  • Coordinates and supervises venue staff.
  • Oversees maintenance of physical assets.
  • Conducts operational reviews and audits.
  • Implements and monitors budgets, ensuring quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Achieves financial targets and analyzes results.
  • Maintains high food and beverage standards and hygiene compliance.
  • Addresses complaints and issues promptly.
  • Handles security incidents appropriately.
  • Fosters team spirit and discipline.
  • Ensures adherence to Belmond guidelines and policies.

  • Conducts performance appraisals and promotes engagement.

Requirements

  • At least one year in a similar managerial F&B role managing projects.
  • Experience in medium to large-scale restaurant operations.
  • Management experience with 30-35 staff members.
  • Strong knowledge of F&B products.
  • Ability to communicate across all personnel levels.
  • Experience with cost control and internal organization.
  • Knowledge of hygiene standards and HACCP.
  • Familiarity with menu engineering, revenue generation, and yield management.
  • Good P&L analysis skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Refined public relations skills.
