Research & Development Engineer - Low Voltage Products

Position Reporting To

Engineering Manager I

Your Role and Responsibilities

Support the Electrification Services product line at our Florence, SC site, focusing on retrofitting designs for Low Voltage (LV) products. Demonstrate strong leadership and experience in design, quality, safety, compliance, and new product development. This role is onsite.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Design, develop, and implement engineering programs that meet business standards and requirements.
  2. Plan, execute, and report on technical design, schedules, and test results under guidance.
  3. Develop product designs meeting functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety standards.
  4. Ensure conformance to technical specifications and international standards using Design for Six Sigma and Reliability methodologies.
  5. Maintain technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, cost analysis, risk management, and root cause analysis.
  6. Use solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) for creating models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
  7. Support manufacturing through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  8. Develop and execute test plans, including prototype assembly and root cause analysis.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • At least 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD design, modeling, and BOM management.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design aspects such as mechanisms, thermal, and structural performance.
  • Ability to analyze test data and resolve design issues.
  • Hands-on skills in assembly, testing, and root cause identification.
  • Up to 5% domestic travel possible.
  • Must have valid work authorization in the US; we cannot sponsor visas at this time.
