Job summary

Serco Group in Rome invites a Senior Software Developer to join the ECLIPSE Product Development team. This full-time role blends hands-on software engineering with architectural leadership, mentoring, and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.

You will work with Tech Leads, Product Owners, QA, and stakeholders to shape technical direction and deliver secure, scalable software while fostering best practices and team growth.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with Java/J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, and frontend tech.
• Experience mentoring developers and conducting code reviews.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and maintenance of software features.
• Design scalable, secure solutions aligned with product and architectural goals.
• Take ownership of significant functional areas, ensuring long‑term quality and maintainability.
• Review code, establish coding standards, and promote engineering best practices.
• Mentor and support other developers through coaching, pair programming, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Tech Leads, QA, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead technical investigations, proof‑of‑concepts, and evaluation of new technologies and tools.
• Identify and drive improvements to software architecture, development processes, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and automation.
• Support troubleshooting of complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Contribute to technical roadmap planning and architectural discussions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies while helping improve estimation accuracy and delivery practices.
• Continuously expand technical expertise and share knowledge across the team.
