Job summary

Jobgether SRL is seeking an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT based in Italy. The role blends hands-on Linux engineering with customer-facing activities to deploy secure, scalable operating environments for connected devices.

You will work across boot processes, firmware, and distribution packaging, using Yocto or Buildroot, and collaborate with global teams to deliver production-grade solutions. Travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux experience in Debian/Ubuntu environments.
• Embedded Linux development with Yocto or Buildroot.
• Low-level experience: bootloaders, BIOS/UEFI, firmware, Secure Boot.
• Proficient in C/C++, Python, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with Linux packaging (deb/rpm) and system integration.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and customer-facing abilities.
• Independent, able to manage multiple priorities and learn continuously.
• Professional English; local language skills beneficial.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to ~30%.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers during presales and discovery to translate requirements into embedded Linux solutions.
• Design, adapt, and deliver embedded Linux systems for devices and IoT environments for performance, reliability and security.
• Work across the Linux stack: boot processes, firmware, BIOS/UEFI, Secure Boot, packaging.
• Contribute to development, integration, and debugging using Yocto or Buildroot.
• Support delivery of customer projects as technical advisor and contributor.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues across hardware and software.
• Communicate customer needs back to internal engineering to influence product direction.
• Collaborate with global teams to ensure robust, production-grade embedded solutions.
