Blackedge Consulting in Milan seeks a Regional Manager to establish and grow its data centre design capability. You will lead business development, build a top-tier design team and guide technical leadership across projects.

You will recruit, mentor and manage engineers, foster a high‑quality culture, and develop relationships with clients, developers and partners throughout Italy.

Regional Manager – Data Centre Design | Milan

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Regional Manager to establish and grow our data centre design capability in Milan.

This is a key leadership role combining business development, team building and technical design leadership. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Italian data centre market, established local relationships and the credibility to develop new client opportunities while building a high-performing technical team from the ground up.

With a strong mechanical or electrical engineering background, you will provide technical leadership across projects while working closely with clients, design partners and internal teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality solutions.

The role will suit someone who understands how the local market operates, knows where the opportunities are and has the ambition and ability to turn those opportunities into a sustainable regional business.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and develop the Milan regional design team from the ground up.
• Recruit, develop and retain high-quality mechanical, electrical and multidisciplinary design talent.
• Build a strong local technical culture focused on quality, collaboration and client delivery.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key data centre clients, developers, contractors, consultants and industry partners across Italy.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Italian data centre market.
• Lead proposals, bids and client presentations through to successful appointment.
• Develop a sustainable regional pipeline and contribute to the wider business development strategy.
• Act as a senior local representative of the business within the Italian data centre sector.
• Oversee the coordination and delivery of mechanical and electrical engineering solutions.
• Ensure projects are delivered to appropriate technical, quality, programme and client requirements.
• Provide oversight of design management, technical interfaces and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Promote effective use of BIM and digital design processes across the team and projects.
• Work closely with project managers, design managers, BIM teams, engineers and external consultants.
• Support project planning, resourcing, programme management and commercial performance where required.
• Establish consistent design standards, processes and quality controls within the regional team.
• Keep the team informed of relevant Italian and European standards, regulations, technologies and industry developments.
• Share knowledge and best practice with the wider business and other regional teams.

Experience Required

• Significant experience within the data centre / mission-critical design sector.
• Strong knowledge of the Italian data centre market, ideally with an established network of relevant client and industry relationships.
• Proven experience developing client relationships and winning design consultancy work.
• Demonstrable experience building, leading or significantly developing technical teams.
• Strong mechanical or electrical engineering background.
• Good understanding of multidisciplinary building services design.
• Experience working with BIM, digital engineering and coordinated design processes.
• Understanding of design management and the interfaces between engineering disciplines.
• Experience working alongside or within project management teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of consultancy business development.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional fluency in Italian and English.
