The role of HR Manager at Canonical

With 1,000 colleagues across 70 countries, we require an HR function that thinks and acts globally. We're looking for three regional leads that will report to our Global Head of People, helping to build our company during continued growth. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and create the HR function of the future. You will lead the HR teams in the Americas or EMEA regions, providing compliant and scalable HR operations, advising on employee lifecycle issues, and partnering with senior leadership. An analytical approach, attention to detail, and data interpretation skills are essential.

What your day will look like
  • Lead and scale Canonical's regional HR team (1-4 direct reports)
  • Deliver accurate and compliant HR operations promptly
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Workplace Engineering teams to streamline processes
  • Manage talent development, succession planning, performance assessments, onboarding, and engagement initiatives
  • Work with senior managers on performance management, organizational design, and rewards
  • Coach managers on employee relations across multiple countries
  • Support training and development programs
  • Build trusted partnerships within your region
  • Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
  • Design policies and lead HR projects globally
  • Represent Canonical's HR practices at events
What we are looking for in you
  • Degree qualification
  • Regional HR leadership experience in a tech company (Americas or EMEA)
  • People management skills
  • Experience in business partnering with senior stakeholders
  • Hands-on involvement in daily HR routines
  • Experience working in a remote-first organization
  • Data-driven decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of HR practices and employment law in EMEA or Americas
  • Fluent in business English
  • Self-motivated, organized, confident, and results-oriented
  • Willing to travel up to 4 times annually
