Your Mission:

The Global Trade team within Hitachi Energy is responsible for “ensuring trade compliance and optimizing trade-related business operations”. The broad scope of work covers export controls, sanctions and customs compliance, supply chain compliance and supply chain optimization.

Your Responsibilities:

The Regional Head of Trade Management Europe is responsible for leading, managing and implementing the Hitachi Energy Global Trade Program (GTP) in Europe and for acting as a global advisor and point of contact, on trade related matters, for Grid Integration, one Hitachi Energy’s four Business Units (BUs).

The Regional Head of Trade Management Europe reports to the global Head of Trade Compliance & Security and is part of the Global Trade Leadership Team. Day-to-day tasks include:

  1. Driving the implementation of the GTP and its governance framework in Europe;
  2. Recruiting, appointing, managing, training, developing and supporting the 11 Country Trade Compliance Officers (CTCOs) in Europe;
  3. Ensuring the local business units in Europe are appointing local BU Trade Compliance Officers/Representatives and supporting them with trade-related tasks;
  4. Informing and advising the Head of Trade Compliance & Security, the Global Trade team, the European CTCOs, the BUs and other stakeholders on European trade issues;
  5. Leading the Global Trade Sanctions Steering Group, a specialist advisory group within the Global Trade team.
  6. Mapping and improving trade policies and procedures;
  7. Training stakeholders on trade matters;
  8. Identifying and capturing duty savings opportunities in Europe;
  9. Supporting the implementation, use and continuous improvement of global trade-related tools (such as SAP GTS) and automation;
  10. Overseeing and controlling monthly KPI reporting, issue reporting, annual risk assessments and other trade-related reporting, as well as implementing corrective and risk mitigation measures;
  11. Supporting internal and external trade audits;
  12. Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your Background:

  1. Required - Graduate or postgraduate degree in trade, law, economics, international relations or other trade-related field.
  2. Preferred – Swiss or EU legal qualification or background.
  3. Required – 10+ years’ experience in export controls, sanctions and customs compliance, supply chain compliance and supply chain optimization in an in-house role.
  4. Required – Specialist knowledge of Swiss and EU trade regulations
  5. Required – Specialist knowledge of EU and other sanctions.
  6. Required – Fluency in written and spoken English. Other European languages, particularly German or French, are a plus.
  7. Required – Currently based in Italy or the EU.
