R&D Testing & Lab Specialist - SPP

This position has a grade level and reports to the R&D Local Unit Lead.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will lead processes to maintain and optimize the efficiency of electrical and mechanical maintenance on laboratory testing equipment, following Maintenance Procedures, machinery manuals, and standard processes. The work model for this role is onsite. You will contribute to the ABB Electrification Business area, specifically for the Smart Power Division in Bergamo, with the Research and Development Department as the main stakeholder. Your main responsibilities include:

• Defining test sequences, methods, equipment, and instrumentation, preparing test setups, connecting devices under test, and executing tests according to standards.
• Analyzing test results to ensure product compliance with applicable standards.
• Processing test reports and issuing documentation for tested equipment.
• Proposing improvements to test techniques based on experience and new equipment use.
• Supporting customers during testing activities.

Qualifications for the role

• High School Diploma in Electrotechnical field or a Bachelor Degree (3 years) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic engineering.
• Strong skills in electrotechnical knowledge.
• Manual dexterity, analytical skills, and ability to interpret results.
• Computer skills, including programming, office software, and PLC programming.
• Passion for precision, teamwork, continuous learning, and problem-solving attitude.
• Proficiency in Italian and English communication.
• Availability to work rotating shifts.
