R&D Testing & Lab Specialist

This position reports to Quality Manager.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will join the Laboratory team responsible for testing and certification of ABB low voltage products in the field of DIN-Rail, Wiring Accessories, and Building Automation. The work model for the role is: #Hybrid. This role contributes to the Electrification Smart Buildings division located in Vittuone, Italy. You will be mainly accountable for:

1. Defining test plans to verify the compliance of a product to the requested standards and the fulfillment of its market requirements.
2. Defining new testing procedures and test cases to functionally verify the performances of the products and their correct integration in wider and more complex ecosystems.
3. Performing tests on various types of products according to test plan, standards, and safety rules, within the timeline assigned.
4. Collaborating closely with R&D and Quality engineers to develop the best technical solutions to address quality issues and achieve the requested product performances.
5. Performing analysis on experimental data, summarizing the results, and preparing technical test reports on completed activities.
6. Proposing and implementing improvements in existing test setups in terms of equipment, techniques, methods, and new tools.
7. Assisting and supporting external certification inspectors during testing activities for ABB products.
8. Handling the approval process of ABB products with certification bodies in Italy and abroad, and supporting Customer Service colleagues in debugging and resolving market issues.

Qualifications for the role

• You enjoy working with science and technology supported by a strong technical background.
• Have established skills in working independently and in a team setting.
• Possess advanced knowledge of basic laboratory instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter, function generator, etc.).
• You are captivated by strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronic engineering, or equivalent.
• You are comfortable communicating in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
