Hitachi Energy is seeking a senior modeller to develop and validate models for the PCS product portfolio, including power electronics converters and plant controllers. You will work across a global team to define modelling roadmaps and ensure delivery of validated models across simulation environments.

Requirements include a Master in Electrical Engineering (PhD a plus) and 5+ years in Power Systems/Power Electronics modelling with MATLAB/Simulink, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, and PSS/E.

Competenze

• Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with focus on Power Systems and Power Electronics.
• At least 5 years of modelling experience in Power Systems and Power Electronics.
• Experience with Matlab/Simulink, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, PSS/E is required.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Job Description

The opportunity

You shall be working in the research and development department of the global product group PCS (Power Conversion Systems within the Hitachi Energy's Grid Automation Business Unit). The R&D team is responsible for the power electronics converters development & control and automation logics relevant to Energy Storage, Photovoltaics, Hybrid solutions.

The proposed role is available in the Hitachi Energy Grid Automation offices in Genova / Milan, Italy, and in Seville / Madrid in Spain.

Being part of a global team, you shall interact with the different stakeholders of the organization and Operational units worldwide.

Your focus shall be on the modelling of Hitachi Energy PCS product portfolio (power electronics converters and power plant controller), with focus on development, integration and validation of the models into automation control logics, modelling, and simulation tools within different simulation environments.

How you'll make an impact

You shall leverage your extensive knowledge of modelling applied to Power Systems, Power Electronics and digital control techniques being responsible for the product development process of validated models representative of the PCS product portfolio.

Working with the R&D senior management you shall participate in the definition and implementation the product modelling roadmap for PCS team, being supporting the model delivery and rollout of the models including in the deliver reduced grid impact studies for execution projects.

As part of the R&D team you will have the opportunity to interact with Product Management, external consultants, and internal customers globally located.

Responsible for the simulation models development, testing and validation.

Responsible for documentation generation, version tracking and quality checks.

Provide training and support of PCS colleagues, customers, and consultants.

Your background

Master degree, preferred in either Electrical or Electronic Engineering, with focus on Power System stability and Power Electronics domain. A PhD in the area of renewable energy grid integration with focus on modelling & control aspects would be a plus.

Minimum 5 years of experience in modelling and studying Power Systems and Power Electronics, using state of the art tools (Matlab Simulink, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSCAD, PSS/E).

Excellent knowledge of Power System, Power Electronics and Control system modelling tools (Matlab Simulink, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSCAD, PSS/E).

Experience in executing Grid Impact Studies is a plus.

Knowledge of Python, PyTest and simulation automation techniques is a plus.

Solid presentation skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.

High awareness for quality, process and tool in related area.

Self-motivated, independent, organized and structured way of working.

Able to operate in a highly motivated team environment.

Availability to travel globally (10 - 20% of the time)

The minimum salary for this position in the location specified is as follows:

Italy (Milan, Genova): Starting from 44000 € gross
