A leading recruiting firm is seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineer for one of its clients in Bologna, Italy. You will manage mechanical activities for New Product Development and support design processes. The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3–4 years of experience in mechanical design. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with advanced production technologies.

Overview

Chaberton Professionals is one of the recruiting divisions of Chaberton Partners. Our goal is to create success stories and enrich the talent pipeline within our client companies. For one of our clients, a leading international provider of automation technologies, we are currently supporting the recruitment of an R&D Mechanical Engineer to join their R&D division.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all mechanical activities related to New Product Development (NPD) projects
  • Support the design process with analysis, simulations, and tests
  • Manage external resources and oversee the co-design process with suppliers
  • Oversee DFM stages and organize internal design reviews with Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing to ensure the design is suitable for mass production
  • Highlight mechanical technical risks to the Mechanical Team Leader, Program Manager, and System Engineer
  • Support the Purchasing Department in estimating investments for production tooling and components
  • Collaborate with other functions (Quality, Technical Support, Purchasing, Production) to manage product maintenance, quality issues, shortages, and cost reduction initiatives
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 3–4 years of experience in mechanical design for mechanical/electronic/optical appliances
  • Knowledge of plastic/metal materials and production processes (injection molding, die casting, CNC, laser cutting, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of 3D CAD systems (preferably Siemens NX)
  • Familiarity with PLM systems (preferably Siemens Teamcenter)
  • Experience with DFM stages, qualification tests, and simulations
  • Understanding of major production technologies: injection molding, metal sheet fabrication, die-casting, CNC, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience managing teams and complex projects
  • Excellent documentation skills and adherence to company standards
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional team
