About the Role

At Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, we believe that exceptional claims handling is key to setting us apart in the industry and provides our customers with an outstanding service. Simply put: we want our outstanding claims service to be the reason customers choose insurance with us.

We are looking for a Claims Adjuster with experience in handling Property & Casualty insurance claims to join our team. You will be responsible for the professional handling of Direct Primary Property & Casualty Insurance claims, both domestic and international, ranging in complexity and size.

You will take on roles ranging from Lead to coinsurer, handling claims involving technical coverage evaluation, exposure analysis, and influencing the market to reach the desired outcomes.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Manage Property & Casualty claims of varying severity within the assigned authority, including coverage reviews, fact investigation, loss evaluation, and crafting claim resolution strategies.
  • Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves according to company guidelines.
  • Regularly provide insightful claims-related input to internal partners and contribute to studies and analysis concerning emerging risks, legal and regulatory developments, and industry trends.
  • Assist Underwriting and other departments with policy wording and risk assessments.
  • Provide accurate data for claims reporting, ensuring compliance with internal governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training/education related to claims and the insurance industry.
  • Participate in regional and global projects.

About the Team

Our Claims team, based in Milan, consists of 4 professionals with diverse backgrounds, managing losses across domestic and international programs and various lines of business. This position reports to the Head of Claims for Italy.

About You

  • Education: A legal degree or equivalent insurance work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Claims handling or Insurance, specifically within the Italian Property & Casualty insurance market. Experience with international programs is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English.
  • Attitude: We are open to candidates with less experience, provided they are highly motivated to learn and develop on the job. We value candidates with a solid academic background and a passion for gaining hands-on experience in claims handling.
  • Competencies: Analytical, proactive, and collaborative, with strong problem-solving abilities. Able to influence decision-making and navigate complex situations.
  • Other: Strong litigation management skills and experience in managing outside counsel. A solid understanding of underwriting and related insurance functions is preferred.

For Italy, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 46,000 and EUR 76,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.

Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
