SMS group S.p.A. is a company within the German SMS group, a global leader in plant and machinery manufacturing for the steelmaking and non-ferrous industries, employing approximately 14,400 people worldwide.

With over 500 employees across Tarcento (Udine), San Donato Milanese (Milan), and Genoa, SMS group S.p.A. specializes in producing innovative, turnkey plants such as hot and cold rolling mills, process lines, reheating furnaces, heat treatment lines, mills for long products, meltshops, and continuous casting machines.

We are seeking to fill the position of Project Manager Sales SIE HANDELN.

  • Represent SMS group towards customers and internally manage project relationships;
  • Conduct regular project discussions and negotiations with customers and consortium members, documenting outcomes;
  • Lead core team meetings and record results;
  • Hold the authority for overall sales project management as an "entrepreneur inside the company";
  • Understand project baseline goals, requirements, and Bid Budget;
  • Define project strategy (Winning Strategy) collaboratively with the Core Sales Team and Project Owner Sales;
  • Manage the Core Sales Team;
  • Allocate project budgets (Bid Budget) within authorized limits;
  • Implement target costing based on project costs and results;
  • Negotiate as the official contact point with customers and contract partners on technical and commercial matters, collaborating with the Commercial and Technical Managers until contract signing;
  • Organize project meetings, including risk assessments, involving relevant teams and partners;
  • Adhere to travel guidelines and obtain necessary approvals;
  • Request and utilize all relevant project data and information;
  • Possess written power of attorney for contract negotiations, legally binding when signing on behalf of the legal entity.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Graduate or Bachelor/Master in Mechanical Engineering or similar;
  • 3-4 years of experience in technical sales within complex plant manufacturing;
  • Ability to analyze customer requests and prepare technical offers;
  • Commercial skills to develop competitive solutions and manufacturing strategies;
  • Proficiency in Mechanical Technical drawings; basic knowledge of Media systems, Electrical, and Automation packages;
  • Strong coordination skills for managing proposal teams;
  • Willingness to travel worldwide as required;
  • Fluent in English; German skills are a plus;
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Project; basic knowledge of SAP;
  • Drawing tools like AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo are advantageous but not mandatory.
